SISTERSVILLE — The Sistersville Tank Works is holding a hiring event for certified MIG welders in March.

The event will be held 8-3 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at the Tank Works shop in Waverly, the company said. The Waverly shop is located on W.Va. 2 near the Wood and Pleasants county line.

“Right now we have contracted work that will take us well into 2023,” said Jason Morgan, chief financial officer. “We need good, qualified welders, so we’re planning this event to interview, test and hire during this one-day event.”

Certified MIG welders interested in applying with the company should bring their welding hood and steel toed shoes to the event, prepare an employment application and take a welding test.

Morgan said company pay and benefits are competitive.

“We’re a member of Boilermakers Union 667, so our employees can apply for health insurance and participate in the union’s pension program after 60 days,” he said.

Qualifying welders will earn from $18 to $28 an hour, he said.

“These welding positions are for our Waverly, W.Va., shop, and travel is infrequent,” he said.

The Sistersville Tank Works was founded in 1894 during the gas boom. The family-owned business makes customer, ASME-code pressure vessels and shell-and-tube heat exchangers, API-spec storage tanks, reactors, processing columns and other specialty products.

Among clients are EQT, DuPont and Antero Resources.
