It's the largest bike event in Central Washington and organizers are expecting a big turnout. It's called The Your Canyon for a Day Bike Ride and it's set for May 22nd in the Yakima River Canyon and it's a major fundraiser for Crimestoppers Yakima County.

Mark Peterson the President of Crimestoppers says it's one of the most important fundraisers of the year where you get to help the organization put wanted criminals behind bars. Pre-registration is now closed but officials say "you may register on the day of the ride at the north or south end of the ride.  Please remember to bring cash or a check to pay because of limited WiFi access in the canyon."

The ride is set for 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on May 22nd. The Crimestoppers web site, crimestoppersyakco.org says the "35-mile round trip ride through the scenic Yakima River Canyon.  The road follows the Yakima River up a gentle grade with few hills. The highway will be closed to thru traffic during the ride making it a perfect ride for the entire family. All the money raised during the ride goes to help pay rewards to people who call Crimestoppers Yakima County with useful information that lead to arrests.

The Crimestoppers web site says "Any person who directly contacts Yakima County Crime Stoppers and gives information which leads to the arrest of a fugitive wanted in a felony case, will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.00. Yakima County Crime Stoppers will not pay rewards for information provided through any source other than calls to its program." You can call in your tips to Yakima County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-248-9980.
