Ray Murray Inc. (RMI) hosted its first Bobtail Rodeo Tournament of Champions at its facility in Lee, Massachusetts.

Eleven bobtail drivers from the New England area tested their skills during the competition using two new bobtails provided by Lin’s Propane Trucks.

The competition’s seven challenges included: Pre-trip inspection, off-set driving, parallel parking, stop line backward, straight line driving, serpentine driving and stop line forward.

Brady Bean of Blue Ox Energy Products, Oxford, New York, was the overall winner, followed by Pat Hammond of Buhrmaster Energy Group, Scotia, New York, in second place and Wayne George of Palmer Gas & Oil, Atkinson, New Hampshire, in third place.

“It was a great day to have fun and to recognize the exceptional drivers that deliver the propane that fuels America’s homes and businesses every day,” says Mike Hopsicker, RMI president and CEO, who presented the event’s awards alongside Kevin Bayley, the company’s LP business development manager.

The event also had demonstrations by Mike Tartaglia with Allen Dunlap from Marshall Excelsior Co. on the new Excela-Wynd hose reel and Warren Booth from Emerson on the new Fisher 2-inch 63EGLP relief valve. The drivers also viewed a training video on preventing bobtail rollovers.

RMI is a wholesale supplier for gas equipment, heating, hearth and outdoor living products. It’s one of the largest distributors of propane equipment and appliances in the U.S.
